A Fantastic Day of Fundraising – On Saturday 6th June 2026, the dedicated Neurosurgery Team from St George’s Hospital came together once again for their annual charity walk in support of the John King Brain Tumour Foundation.

Despite some challenging weather along the route, spirits remained high throughout the day, and we are delighted to report that everyone successfully completed the walk from Tottenham Hale to Kings Cross.
Now in its sixth year, the Neuro Team Fun Walk continues to bring together colleagues, friends, family members, and supporters, all united by a shared commitment to improving the lives of patients and families affected by brain tumours and neurological conditions.
Celebrating a Major Achievement
This year’s walk was particularly special as it took place following the completion of the Foundation’s most ambitious project to date – the Neuro Intensive Care Unit roof garden, affectionately known as the Garden in the Sky.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, fundraisers, donors, and volunteers, the garden is now complete and already being enjoyed by patients, their loved ones, and hospital staff at St George’s Hospital.
The beautiful outdoor space provides a peaceful sanctuary away from the clinical environment, offering fresh air, reflection, rehabilitation opportunities, and precious moments of normality during challenging times.

A Legacy of Making a Difference
Over the past six years, the John King Brain Tumour Foundation has funded vital neurosurgical equipment for both adult and paediatric patients at St George’s Hospital. These investments have helped enhance patient care and improve outcomes for those living with brain tumours, neurological disorders, and brain injuries.
The Foundation has also transformed outdoor spaces within the hospital, recognising the important role that wellbeing and environment play in recovery.
The successful completion of the Garden in the Sky is another significant milestone in that journey and stands as a lasting legacy of what can be achieved through community support and determination.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every member of the Neurosurgery Team who took part in the walk, as well as everyone who donated, sponsored participants, shared our fundraising efforts, or supported the event in any way.
